LOCOMOTIFS AND OTHER SONGS

This collection is a brilliant adventure in lyricism and features poems exploring such diverse themes as love, nationhood, travels across three continents, politics, religion, colonial legacies and the sharp pains of a world in search of healing. In locomotives and other songs, we encounter a poet determined to create his own unique voice by learning from the best in varied poetic traditions. Languages and forms are tested for their relational capacities as the poems unveil themselves to the reader in simple, weighty and thoughtful diction. Tosin Gbogi teaches in the Department of English Studies, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Nigeria. He received a master’s degree in English Literature from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK and is at present completing a doctoral degree in the Interdisciplinary Program in Linguistics at Tulane University, New Orleans, USA. Gbogi is the author of the tongues of a shattered s-k-y (poetry).
